BLACKPINK Jennie "You & Me" topped iTunes song charts in 53 countries
"BLACKPINK" Jennie hit the global charts with her special single "You & Me," which she released in a surprise for her fans.
According to YG Entertainment, Jennie's "You and Me," which was released at 1 p.m. the previous day (Korea Standard Time), topped iTunes song charts in 53 countries.
In Korea, "You & Me" landed at the top of the real-time charts on Naver Vibe, Bugs No. 1, Melon, and Genie right after its release. In particular, in Melon, it settled at the top with a steep upward curve and ranked fifth as of 9 a.m. that day.
"You and Me," which decorated Jenny's solo stage on the Black Pink World Tour "Born Pink," drew attention for its silhouette performance against the backdrop of the full moon. The performance video released along with the official sound source was also praised for providing a sense of immersion, and it ranked No. 1 on YouTube for the "most viewed video in 24 hours."
As Black Pink songs have enjoyed popularity on music platforms around the world, "You and Me" is also expected to be successful. Attention is focusing on whether it will enter the U.S. Billboard's main single chart "Hot 100." Earlier, Rosé and Lisa's solo songs entered the "Hot 100".
Earlier, Jennie's first solo song, "SOLO," released in November 2018, not only topped iTunes in 40 countries, but also became the first K-pop female solo artist to top the iTunes World Wide Song Chart at the time. The music video also surpassed 900 million views on YouTube due to its steady popularity.
